A National Vow of Poverty?

Simple truth:

Free exchanges by free people in free markets tend to create wealth.

Government bureaucracies, regulations, and interventions tend to consume and squander wealth, and to discourage and interfere with its creation.

Nobody should be surprised at the effects of Mr. Obama's statist economic policies.  And nobody should be in favor of four more years of them, unless, of course, it's out of a principled commitment to poverty and economic stagnation.  But those who wish to choose poverty are already free to do so for themselves.  They can even, if they choose, enter a monastery.  That's the beauty of freedom.
