An Edifying Afternoon

I spent part of this afternoon walking through the offices of some local charitable foundations and receiving explanations of the work that they do for abused women, addicts, dysfunctional couples, and the poor.

Sometimes I'm simply astonished at the good that certain people do.  Without fanfare, with little or no public acknowledgment, at their own initiative, on their own (literal or metaphorical) dime.  I'm often amazed at the stealthy charity of certain very wealthy people, as I've come to learn of it.

It makes me resolve to do a little more myself.  To spend a little bit less time and money and attention on nonsense, of which there is already enough and to spare.
